Saturday, most people arrived at the papineauville regional school to register for the 5th edition of CERF-VOLENFETE, this would be the central meeting place and where kitefliers could sleep saturday night.

Our hosts Ronald and Francine Lemon, Sylvie and Joel received us for a preflight lunch.
Around 12:00 we all headed to the field (a horse training track for trotters). A series of tents had been setup to accomodate both children's kitemaking and a cantine where coffee, hot chocolate and hot dogs could be purchased.

At one point I looked around and a lot of people had suddenly arrived. The enclosed section of field (the track being the paremeter) was ice covered snow, but it didn't take long for this area to become packed by the participants. Children and their parents were flying their newly made kites, smiles of children and their parents were everywhere. A special section was set aside for these future kitefliers.
The sky which was cloudless and sunny bright was painted by some of Quebec's and Ontario's well known fliers. Alain Lalonde flew his signature Cobra kite and french military which he allowed children to hold the line. Mimi flew the pink phanther Rok. Carole Bigras flew his giant delta and french military. Francois Riou and Carole set up a KAP rig. Francois flew his giant 19 foot delta and his new military. Normand Girard flew his minimalised kites. Eric Chiasson flew his pyro delta and numerous kites. Rene flew his flowform type kites. A group from Russell Ontario, father and 3 sons where flying their quad line traction kites. Eric Blackenbury from Carp was skiing on the river just beside the track. Richard Nolet flew his revolution kite. Lucien Gibeault (Canadian pioneer of kite flying) flew his flowform with Fernand Heroux. Two young ladies:) from Aulinaies, Lili and Marielle flew a beautiful bird kite and adorned their site with small banners. Jean Guy Caron, Martine and Cloe where flying a flexifoil 8 foot stacker. Hugues Poelman was flying his parafoil type kites. I met so many people, I got a chance to help 2 people of Les Chavaliers de Colone set up their rokaku. I got to fly my 2 north shore radicals, lots of people enjoyed that.

Around 14:30, Richard Nolet, Hugues Poelman and myself, did the candy and bear drops for the 30+ children. Doing candy and bear drops rates a 10+ on a scale of 10, the kids love it and we had so much fun doing it. I watched not only the kids faces but theirs parents also, there were grins everywhere. After 10 drops we called decided to stop. Save some for Sunday. Tomorrow we'll break up the kids into age groups so the little ones have a chance to get a candy or a teddy.

At 16:30 we all met at the regional school and had a few beers, then around 18:00 headed to the community hall for a great buffet supper, very relaxed.
After supper we headed back to our accomodations at the regional school, some of us went to the gym to fly indoors.
Then we all sat around till about midnight and talked. We all slept at the regional school.

Sunday, from 8:00 am to 11:00am we had breakfast, (muffins, coffee etc), and talked some more.

Sunday was a wash out, we all showed up at 11:15am and setup, but it was evident that, the weather conditions were against us (snowing, cold and wind).

So around 13:30, we all packed up and headed back to the regional school for a snack.
We all left around 15:00.
